The Front based these figures on an analysis of official lists it obtained for the terrorism circuits.

The report estimated the release decisions by the terrorism circuits before the launch of the pardon committee at 976 decisions in 2021, falling to 131 decisions in the period from May to July 2022, that is, three months after the pardon committee was launched.

From July 2022 to the end of the year, only 11 release decisions were recorded. The rate continued to decline, recording three releases in the first two months of 2023, then the number became zero from February 2023 until the end of the year.

In addition to what the Front called a “halt” by the circuits to releases, the report documented the continued presentation of defendants to the terrorism circuits via video conference, which deprives the defendant of meeting his judge and his lawyer.

The Front quoted lawyers on “the failure of those circuits to respond to the health conditions of sick and elderly defendants”, as well as “ignoring complaints by detainees in Badr 3 prison about being banned from visits and their deteriorating living conditions”; in addition, it documented defendants’ sound being muted in 13 sessions heard by the First Circuit.

In the same context, the Front documented defendants being brought from their wards at nine in the morning to the renewal halls without food, “which causes some of them to faint”, pointing to lawyers’ complaints about “the narrowness of the deliberation room at the Badr Criminal Court”, to the extent that it “cannot accommodate the members of the court and the defence, forcing them to stay outside the deliberation room during the renewal session, which prevents them from presenting their defences adequately”.

<circle cx="1718" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="1718" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="1930" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="1930" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="2142" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="2142" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="2354" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="2354" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="2566" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="2566" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/>

America Imposes Sanctions on Sudanese Entities Over the War

The US Treasury Department said the United States has decided to take new measures against Sudanese entities with the aim of hastening an end to the nine-month war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.

The department decided to impose economic sanctions on “Al-Fakher Advanced Works”, owned by the Rapid Support Forces, and “Zadna International Company for Investment Limited”, owned by the Sudanese army.

Brian Nelson, the US Treasury’s Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, said the decisions came because of the continuing conflict in Sudan, which is due in part to key individuals and entities helping to finance the continuation of the violence.

<circle cx="1718" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="1718" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="1930" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="1930" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="2142" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="2142" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="2354" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="2354" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/><circle cx="2566" cy="211" r="56" fill="#fafafa" stroke="#9c9c9c" stroke-width="3"/><circle cx="2566" cy="202" r="50" fill="#647580" stroke="#4e5962" stroke-width="4"/>

A Hint at Possible US Recognition of a Palestinian State After the Gaza War

The website “Axios”
