{"id":20959,"date":"2026-10-23T12:47:57","date_gmt":"2026-10-23T10:47:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/?p=20959"},"modified":"2026-10-23T12:47:57","modified_gmt":"2026-10-23T10:47:57","slug":"pension-minimum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/en\/pension-minimum\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Insurance Raises the Minimum Pension to 2,080 Pounds Starting January 2027"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Major General Gamal Awad, head of the National Organization for Social Insurance, announced on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, raising the minimum pension from 1,755 pounds ($36.34) to 2,080 pounds ($43.06) per month, an increase of 325 pounds ($6.73), as of January 2027. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.elwatannews.com\/news\/details\/8381576\">announcement<\/a> came during the session &#8220;Controlling Markets and a More Effective Social Protection System&#8221; on the third day of &#8220;Egypt Forum 2026&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Awad said that about 380,000 people currently receive the minimum pension, namely those who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.masrawy.com\/news\/news_egypt\/details\/2026\/10\/21\/3066463\/\">fulfilled<\/a> the minimum contribution period, which is 15 years, and paid their contributions on the basis of the minimum insurable wage. He added that the authority will also raise the minimum and maximum insurable contribution wage starting in January. The step does not mean that all pensioners will receive an increase of the same value, because the value of each pension is determined by the insurable wage, the contribution period and the <a href=\"https:\/\/al-ain.com\/article\/pension-increases-egypt-in-2027\">eligibility rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new value is lower than what the Pensioners&#8217; Union demanded, as its Secretary-General Ibrahim Abu al-Ata <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=30042026&amp;id=2eafca2b-46b8-42ba-9b43-71626a7e59f0\">called<\/a>, in April 2026, for gradually raising the minimum pension to about 3,000 pounds ($62.11) or more, and for setting a minimum value for the annual raise ranging between 750 and 1,000 pounds (between $15.53 and $20.70).
