He added that the minimum pay of teachers will, with other income being provided, reach 15,000 pounds ($310.56) by 2029. Abdel Latif, for his part, said the increase will be applied in two phases, the first in July 2027 and the second in July 2028, reaching 15,000 pounds.

In their published statements, the two ministers did not announce the current minimum income of a teacher, the value of each instalment separately, or the total cost of the increase to the state budget, and did not explain the difference between the two dates they gave for reaching 15,000 pounds.

The increase implements one of the recommendations of the “Egypt Forum 2026” that Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced at the forum’s closing session on Saturday, 24 October 2026, which called for preparing a gradual plan to grant teachers financial incentives proportionate to the burdens and responsibilities they carry, aiming for their minimum income to reach 15,000 pounds within two years. The recommendations also included setting up a professional licensing system for teaching that gives licence holders financial advantages, and ending the evening-shift system in primary schools by 2027, preparatory schools in 2028 and secondary schools in 2029. Madbouly had announced at the same forum a target of raising the minimum wage for state employees to 15,000 pounds by fiscal year 2029/2030.

Photo: Linda Herrera via Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA 4.0)

The finance minister said teachers’ pay will rise by 5,000 to 6,000 pounds within two years; the education minister set July 2027 and July 2028 for it.

[20481
11035,20474,21092,20526,11009,21091
710
post-24383","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-in-brief","tag-ahmed-kouchouk","tag-egypt-forum-2026","tag-egypt-teachers-salary-increase","tag-ministry-of-education","tag-mohamed-abdel-latif","tag-teacher-pay","kateb-zawia3-com
["GET
