{"id":26044,"date":"2026-11-04T19:30:14","date_gmt":"2026-11-04T17:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/?p=26044"},"modified":"2026-11-04T19:30:14","modified_gmt":"2026-11-04T17:30:14","slug":"cash-subsidy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/en\/cash-subsidy\/","title":{"rendered":"Government to start cash subsidy pilot in Beheira next January without announcing its value"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk announced on Wednesday 4 November 2026 that Beheira Governorate had been chosen to begin the pilot application of the cash subsidy system starting January 2027, to assess its results before setting the mechanisms for expansion. The announcement came during a <a href=\"https:\/\/amwalalghad.com\/2026\/11\/04\/%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AA%D9%85%D9%88%D9%8A%D9%86-%D8%AA%D8%A8%D8%AF%D8%A3-%D8%AA%D8%AC%D8%B1%D8%A8%D8%A9-%D8%A7%D9%84%D8%AF%D8%B9%D9%85-%D8%A7%D9%84%D9%86%D9%82%D8%AF%D9%8A-%D9%81%D9%8A-%D8%A7\/\">meeting<\/a> chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to follow up on the directives of &#8220;Egypt Forum 2026&#8221; on social protection.<\/p>\n<p>The government has not yet announced the value of the cash subsidy per person or family, nor the goods it covers. Each person registered on ration cards currently receives 50 pounds ($0.91) a month to buy subsidized goods, in addition to five loaves of subsidized bread a day. About 57.5 million citizens benefit from ration goods and about 64.5 million from subsidized bread, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.albayan.ae\/economy\/business\/arab-economy\/1562755\">figures<\/a> announced by the minister. The 2026\/2027 budget allocates about 178 billion pounds ($3.25 billion) to in-kind subsidies, including 142 billion for bread and 36 billion for ration goods.<\/p>\n<p>At the same meeting, Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk said the <a href=\"https:\/\/khaligyoun.com\/726516\">executive plan<\/a> for raising the minimum wage was nearing completion and would be presented to the cabinet before the value of the increase and its start date are announced. The minimum wage currently stands at 8,000 pounds ($146) since July 2026, and the government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.banker.news\/157393\">aims<\/a> to raise it to 15,000 pounds ($274) by fiscal year 2029\/2030.
