{"id":26404,"date":"2026-11-06T20:09:47","date_gmt":"2026-11-06T18:09:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/?p=26404"},"modified":"2026-11-06T20:09:47","modified_gmt":"2026-11-06T18:09:47","slug":"external-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/en\/external-debt\/","title":{"rendered":"Egypt&#8217;s external debt rises to 166.7 billion dollars at the end of June 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Egypt&#8217;s external debt rose to 166.747 billion dollars at the end of June 2026, compared with 164.776 billion dollars at the end of March 2026, an increase of 1.971 billion dollars in three months, according to Central Bank of Egypt <a href=\"https:\/\/almalnews.com\/2145327\/\">data<\/a> published on Wednesday 4 November 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Long-term debt climbed to 137.413 billion dollars from 134.251 billion dollars, while short-term debt fell to 29.334 billion dollars from 30.525 billion dollars. By debtor, government debt fell to 82.713 billion dollars from 82.841 billion dollars, Central Bank debt rose to 36.853 billion dollars from 35.770 billion dollars, and banks&#8217; debt fell to 23.789 billion dollars from 24.750 billion dollars, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.shorouknews.com\/news\/view.aspx?cdate=04112026&amp;id=bcdb3d93-71b1-4d7c-b106-20e02f4c5ff0\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>External debt stood at 161.2 billion dollars at the end of June 2025, meaning an increase of about 5.5 billion dollars in one year. Its ratio to gross domestic product reached 44.2% at the end of June 2025, compared with 38.8% a year earlier, while Egypt paid external debt service of 38.7 billion dollars in the 2024\/2025 fiscal year, of which 30.2 billion dollars were principal and 8.5 billion dollars interest, according to earlier Central Bank <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailynewsegypt.com\/?p=842006\">data<\/a>.
