{"id":26432,"date":"2026-11-06T20:25:34","date_gmt":"2026-11-06T18:25:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/?p=26432"},"modified":"2026-11-06T20:25:34","modified_gmt":"2026-11-06T18:25:34","slug":"egyptalum-offering","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/zawia3.com\/en\/egyptalum-offering\/","title":{"rendered":"Government official: government studies offering a large stake in Egyptalum before year end"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The government is studying offering an additional &#8220;large&#8221; stake in Egypt Aluminum on the Egyptian Exchange before the end of this year, with its size to be determined after the fair value study is completed, according to what a senior government official who was not named <a href=\"https:\/\/enterpriseam.com\/egypt-ar\/2026\/11\/04\/%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%ad%d9%83%d9%88%d9%85%d8%a9-%d8%aa%d8%af%d8%b1%d8%b3-%d8%b7%d8%b1%d8%ad-%d8%ad%d8%b5%d8%a9-%d9%83%d8%a8%d9%8a%d8%b1%d8%a9-%d9%85%d9%86-%d9%85%d8%b5%d8%b1-%d9%84%d9%84%d8%a3%d9%84%d9%88\">told<\/a> the Enterprise newsletter on Wednesday 4 November 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The state owns almost the entire company: the Metallurgical Industries Holding Company holds 89.84% of its shares, El Nasr Mining Company 2.2%, and government social insurance funds 5.02%, out of a total of 412.5 million shares. The declared free float stands at 7.96%, falling to about 2.9% when the social insurance funds&#8217; stakes are excluded.<\/p>\n<p>The official said the improvement in the company&#8217;s profits, the rise of its share price and growing foreign investor appetite for the metals sector made the sale more attractive, after a government official said last July that the state wanted to raise the company&#8217;s valuation three to four times before selling any stake in it or transferring it to the Sovereign Fund of Egypt. The company&#8217;s plans include an alumina refinery costing 3 billion dollars in partnership with Aluminium Bahrain &#8220;Alba&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The government aims to raise 1.5 billion dollars from the offerings program before the end of the year, as part of its commitments to the International Monetary Fund, and has raised 658 million dollars of that from selling a 45% stake in Banque du Caire.
