President of the Republic Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced his candidacy in the upcoming presidential election, and said: “O Lord, if there is someone other than me more deserving of it, grant him success, and if I am more deserving of it, O Lord, grant me success and make it easy for me, and O Lord, may I be the more deserving of it… I promise you that it will be an extension of our joint endeavour for Egypt and its people.”

Instructions to Giza Schools to Rally in Support of Sisi
On Sunday, Zawia3 obtained an audio recording revealing how Sisi’s supporters were mobilised in Al-Galaa Square in Giza. The audio recording was sent by an official at the Haram Educational Administration to school principals in Giza governorate in a WhatsApp group. The recording, sent last Saturday, shows an official giving instructions that “everyone” should go on Monday, 2 October, to the Haram Administration at 12:30, and from the administration they will go by “buses” at 1 pm to Al-Saidiya School in Giza.
The official said verbatim: “Every school will bring a bus and we will rally to support His Excellency the President, we will rally to support His Excellency the President. Every bus will set off from in front of the school after the end of the school day; we will head to the administration and from the administration we will head to Al-Saidiya, and with us every banner bearing the school’s name and the flags. God willing, we will all be in full swing for a new electoral term for His Excellency the President. Thank you all, and happy new school year.”
In another written message sent today to the same group to confirm the previous voice message, the official said that “based on the instructions of the administration’s director at the previous meeting, all employees are notified to attend the march tomorrow, Monday, 2 October 2023, with absolutely no excuses, and the gathering will be at 1:30, not 1, in front of the administration, then moving to Al-Saidiya School in Giza, where filming will take place, then heading with the march to Al-Galaa Square and returning after that, and the colour of clothing will be white, because some administrations will wear black and some will wear red”.
The official ended her messages by stressing that this is not a threat: “Whoever wants to go, fine, and whoever does not want to, there will be two lists, a list of those going and a list of those not going, with signatures by name and national ID number, and the two lists will be handed to the administration, which will hand them to the directorate, because there is strict security follow-up on this matter.”
