Fertilizer companies listed on the Egyptian Exchange confirmed, in official disclosures, a 20% cut in the volumes of natural gas supplied to their plants, starting on Sunday, November 1, 2026, following a directive from the gas supplier.

The Egyptian Chemical Industries Company (KIMA) said in its disclosure that it had cut its gas intake by 20%, that its urea plant is operating normally, and that it is studying the impact of the cut and will announce the result. Abu Qir Fertilizers said it had received a notice of reduced gas loads from Sunday noon and had begun implementing it, reorganizing operations and rescheduling periodic maintenance to limit the impact on production, sales and its contractual obligations. Misr Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) said production rates are managed according to the available gas volumes, and Valmor said operations at its subsidiary, Alexandria Fertilizers, continue according to the available volumes.

Egypt’s gas production has fallen from a peak of about 7 billion cubic feet per day in 2019 to about 3.7 billion cubic feet per day, which falls short of domestic consumption, so the government resorts to importing liquefied natural gas.
