Eight Egyptian and Arab journalism platforms, among them Mada Masr, Al-Manassa, Daraj, Megaphone, Sifr, Nawaat and Al-Jumhuriya, launched a joint newsroom to fact-check the information and figures presented by Egypt Forum 2026 throughout its days from 19 to 24 October, under the slogan “Until They Return.. Verification Continues”, in solidarity with the imprisoned team of the Matsda2sh platform.
Security forces had arrested the six team members, Mohamed Ashraf Abu Omeira, Abdallah Kadry, Islam Barakat, Omar Helal, Mohamed Mahmoud and Mohamed Adel, on 28 and 29 September, and the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided on 13 October to renew their detention for 15 days pending Case No. 8083 of 2026, on charges including joining and financing a terrorist group and publishing false news.
