Zawia3 The head of the Egyptian National Media Authority, Diaa Rashwan, stated that it is essential to remind everyone that presenting Hamas or the resistance as the ones who initiated the aggression is “not accurate,” as Hamas was formed in 1987, 40 years after the Nakba. He added during a press conference on Tuesday that the casualties of the Arab-Israeli conflict have reached 100,000 martyrs, one million wounded, and 12.6 million displaced.

Rashwan, the former head of the Journalists Syndicate, also criticized the Western media’s coverage of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, which he described as an attempt to “humanize the Israeli situation and demonize the Palestinian movement.” He further emphasized that “throughout history, no colonial power has defeated resistance.”

During a press conference attended by foreign and Egyptian media representatives, Diaa Rashwan raised the question, “Why does Israel prevent global media, especially television, from entering Gaza, whether it’s currently located in Israeli territories or within the Gaza Strip itself?”

Diaa Rashwan stated that Egypt firmly believes that the Palestinian issue must be resolved in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions. He affirmed that the two-state solution is Egypt’s only solution, returning to the situation before June 5, 1967, with its capital in Jerusalem.

He also explained that the current violence in Gaza is the result of cumulative policies that have persisted in the region and Gaza since 1967. Israeli practices have not ceased. He clarified that this is not a justification for what has happened but rather an explanation.

The head of the General Intelligence Service stated that the party responsible for hindering the exit of foreign citizens from Gaza is the Israeli occupation authorities. The Rafah border crossing has become insecure for individuals due to the occupation’s practices, and he mentioned that the Israeli occupation army “bombed the roads leading to the Rafah crossing four times.”

During his speech at the press conference, Diaa Rashwan pointed out that all the coordination measures for evacuating foreign citizens from Gaza were carried out by Egyptian authorities in coordination with the relevant embassies in Cairo.

He continued by saying that Israel’s attempt to resolve the Palestinian issue by displacing the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip to Sinai is unacceptable, regardless of the entity promoting this idea or the justifications given.
